Mark Hill Sexy Waves & Curls Pro-Magic Wand
I just had to do a quick review of the Mark Hill Styling Wand while the offer is still hot!
Right now the Mark Hill Sexy Waves and Curls Pro-Magic Wand is £25.99 (RRP £54.99) at Boots, and for anyone looking for a good quality, trusty wand I would recommend grabbing one of these before the offer ends, or the stock runs out!
Previously I had been using a cheap clamp style tong which I think was from the boots Basic Essentials range, and it was useless! The barrell was too short and fat for me to get any amount of hair around without it falling off, burning me, and being left with an odd shaped kink in my hair.
After purchasing the Beauty Works Deluxe Hair Extensions with the intention of curling/waving them, I set out on a mission to find a good styling wand. After considering the Tigi Fatstick, I came to the Mark Hill wand purely based on the value for money, and after doing my research, it seemed the one for me.
It has variable heat settings from 120 - 200 degrees, cooler temperatures obviously result in loose waves, higher temperatures result in tighter curls - the length of time you hold the hair to the styler will also make a difference to the result of course.
It has an LCD Screen, lovely long salon length 3 meter cable, a handy auto shut-off and features a unique T-Nano conical barrel with graduating widths from 25-32mm to create natural looking, smooth and shiny frizz free styles.
I am really pleased with the iron for the money it cost, even for £54.99 I would say it was a good investment, it is quick and easy to use, and every wave came out perfect :)
Overall rating: 10/10 - cant fault it!
Beauty Works Deluxe Remy Clip In Hair Extensions
I could only cope with my slow growing hair and low-budget hair extensions for so long before I decided it was time for a change.
Those of you who wear hair extensions will probably understand what I mean when I say they are prone to going "bitty" at the ends. Especially when curled, waved or styled, or even just after and hour or so of wearing, the ends of the extensions begin to separate and go straggly - a huge tell tale sign that the hair is not your own!!
I wanted some hair extensions that I could wear all day that wouldnt let me down and turn scruffy. Up until now I had been wearing two sets of extensions at once, which only cost around £28 each - but this is a LOT of clips to be dealing with during the morning rush!
SO! I set about my research, for thick, high quality hair extensions, and came across the Beauty Works range. Allegedly the hair extensions of choice for the likes of Una Healey, Kim Kardashian, Tulisa etc. Their claims are backed up by a great portfolio of press coverage, and after checking out their YouTube demo's I was sold.
I purchased the 16" 140g Deluxe Remy Clip-Ins in shade Bohemian 18/22 at BeautyWorks Online - they should have cost £105, but I was able to use the discount code "FB10" to get 10% off!
The extensions arrived the next day and I was hugely impressed on first impression.
The Beauty Works Deluxe Range uses a 3-piece system, so you only have 3 pieces of hair to attach; one small two clip weft for the nape of the neck, and two larger four clip pieces - super fast in the mornings!
One great thing I find with these extensions is that even though I have THICK mid length hair - even just wearing the two larger wefts during the day is fine, the hair looks a little shorter without the nape weft, but its more toned down for work and quicker to fix my hair up.
And the one thing I was looking for - styling ability. These hair extensions hold style, they also stay together at the ends and from root to tip are thick, smooth and luscious. (I DID trim the very ends off my extensions when they arrived, as most extensions tend to be very wispy at the ends - if you find this you may choose to do the same).
The ONLY little niggle I have about these extensions (and it is just a teeny one) is the clips. The wefts are sewn into lace and have very robust metal clips, which on the Beauty Works demo videos are claimed to not require any back-combing like regular extensions when attaching. I have to say for me this is not the case. Dont get me wrong - the quality is there, but these wefts are so thick and the clips rather heavy that without back-combing they would slide right out - but still, this is not a huge issue for me and overall I am happy with my purchase!
